The start to Carolyn’s Journey
“My long weight loss journey starts decades ago. I must have started being unhappy with my body in my teens because my first attempt to lose weight started at 16. After my marriage and my first child was born, I tried Weight Watchers at least four different times. Because the emphasis was always on the weight loss and not on moderation and sustainability, I always managed to gain back whatever I had lost. My weight hit the high point in my late 40โs after my husband sustained a life changing accident, and I became his care giver for the next 29 years.
At 5 feet 1 1/2 inches tall and 189 pounds, I felt as if I was just about square. In the few pictures I can find of myself, I wear whatever clothes draped far enough out and quite often would buy whatever fit whether I liked it or not. I was the picture taker of the family and my friends groups, not the one in the picture. Over time, I dropped down to various levels and maintained a 30 pound loss for quite a long time.
Discovering Breakthrough M2
I discovered Breakthrough M2 when I heard the change for the better in my friendโs voice after she had been on the program for quite a few weeks. She had made me sad when I heard her talk about herself in the past. But after she started on this program, she had an entirely new aspect. It was delightful for me to hear her, and I asked her what was going on.
I diligently researched the program for several weeks until I made the decision to give it a try. I thought that our current pandemic was actually an opportunity to make this work for me because I would be able to focus on myself and not be distracted by my social life. The support I have gotten from Breakthrough and especially from Linda Valente has been so valuable. Donโt think I could have done this without her, and the emphasis given to changing my mindset as much as my food habits.
How it’s going!
Today I am feeling really well. I know I am eating a very healthy diet. I feel positive and downright cheerful starting the second week of Transition. I am finding more ways to support my healthy self. Not sure why it has taken me so long to learn how much there is to gain in prepping my food for the week. So many nights, I lacked the will and the energy to prepare food for myself. This new to me way of doing things makes dinner prep a breeze. After many years of taking care of my children, my parents, and my disabled husband, I am now living alone and learning to take care of myself. It is never too late to learn. I just turned 78, and Iโm having a great time.
The picture of me in my farmer days with the sweet Jersey calf was taken about 1989 in my late 40โs at close to my highest weight. The after picture is just last weekend at my current weight at age 78. Feeling kind of foxy and enjoying trying on clothes.”
